The National Search Dog Alliance and Kai Thompson Hernandez are pleased to announce the award of the 2010 Hernandez Search Dog Sponsorship to Jane Beson of Summerville, South Carolina. She is a member of South Carolina Search Dogs.
Jane currently works an eight year old black lab in scent specific area search. She would like to start working a Lab puppy to take over when her current dog retires. Jane's professional career has been spent in the medical field and she is currently a physician's practice manager for a large OB/GYN practice.
Jane also teaches K-9 SAR in her spare time, using her vacation in order to do it. She taught Intermediate Area Search at the NSDA seminar in Cody.
She said in her application that she hoped it showed her "long standing passion for K-9 SAR, my desire to help others in all that I do, and my drive to learn and pass on K-9 SAR techniques."
Kai Hernandez established this award in memory of those who dies, including her husband, in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
